Useful Information On Auto Shipping

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

It can be a scary thing when it comes to auto shipping. There are a few things that need to be considered when selecting a company to ship your car. It may be important to write out a list of criteria that the shipping company needs to meet before you decide to do business with anybody. Finding a good company to ship your car with can help put your mind at ease.

It is important that the company your dealing with has a good reputation. You would find a company that has been in business for years. You may be able to find a site on the internet that reviews these companies. Many classic car guys know of the best companies to do business with.

Insurance is also very important to know about before your vehicle is shipped. The business needs to insure your asset while it is in their possession. Do not be afraid to ask them questions about their insurance policy. Get signed paperwork stating they are insured and that your asset will be covered if an accident were to take place.

The company is ultimately responsible for your car from the time that they receive it to the time that they deliver it to you. You may consider getting some paperwork that is signed stating that they are responsible for your vehicle while it is in their possession. It is expensive to ship a car and you want to make sure that you are covered in the event of an accident.

Do not be afraid to be a little nosey with the shipper of your car. Ask any questions that you can possible think of. A quality shipper will do every thing that they can to ensure you are comfortable shipping your vehicle through them. They will understand that you are worried and should be used to dealing with your concern.

Make sure your vehicle is worth having shipped. If you are considering buying a car out of state and having it shipped be sure to take costs into consideration. Purchasing a car worth five hundred dollars online and then paying thousands of dollars to have it shipped does not make much sense. You can sometimes work the shipping costs into the purchase of the car. If you are doing business with a high end dealership that is out of state they may waive the shipping charges. If the car is worth enough money the dealership may ship the car themselves.

When importing overseas you are dealing with a completely different animal entirely. The states have not only smog regulations but your vehicle must also meet safety requirements. Cars made overseas do not always meets the requirements of the states. There are also going to be some importing taxes involved. All of these need to be considered before you even purchase the car. The last thing you want is to purchase a car in another country only to not be able to ship it home.

Insurance is probably the most important thing to take into consideration. A car can be a very expensive investment at it is important to make sure your investment is properly protected. Taking these precautions when dealing with auto shipping can help you sleep at night.

Auto Shipping: Moving To A Greener Environment

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Environmental changes on our planet are a reality, no longer in the realm of alchemy and pseudoscience. Thus, it is in the best interests of our world as well as of all industrial operations to take the necessary steps to avoid further deterioration of our planet. Note the growing popularity of hybrid vehicles, wind farms and just about any form of alternative energy.

Green homebuilding offers an opportunity to reduce energy consumption and this is another area that is growing in popularity. Cities are on the campaign trail to promote more energy efficient light bulbs, city buses, and street lighting. Recycling just about everything has become the norm.

Auto shipping companies are not an exception to this general shift towards urgent attempts to restore and stabilize a near-depleted world: a fairly young, recent, and one of the most innovative and distinctive industries in the history of modern civilization, they have been acutely attuned to modern problems and have been engaged in the campaign to reduce global warming for years now, without much pomp and fanfare.

It is undoubtedly due to this new emergence of the industry that they are able to understand their potential for cleaning up the planet. In the wake of serious environmental pollution caused by container vessels, oil freighters and trucks, to name a few of the master polluters, they must put a great deal of effort into innovative technology to avoid future accidents in their own shipping industry as well as in others. They desire to do this because it is the right thing to do for the environment and the right thing to do for the economic survival of this huge and burgeoning industry.

It is estimated that a single fairly large auto shipping company can save up to three million gallons of fuel, which means more than 38 million pound less greenhouse gases in our immediate atmosphere. And the number of expanding auto transport companies worldwide is enormous, many of them already gigantic corporations. Their number are likely only to grow with time and globalization.

Simple math can show how great the benefits can be from this industry if they practice green technology. If only one auto shipping company per state practiced the fuel saving methodology as mentioned above, national savings would be about 150 million gallons of fuel and up to two billion pounds of greenhouse gases will not be poisoning our atmosphere. So, if only half the companies existing today unite in this environmental effort, the savings would be enormous and critical progress toward a cleaner environment would be the result.

There are still too many vehicles on the road and anyone who drives can attest to this fact. No one industry can conquer the pollution problem alone. But those companies that lead the way to a greener future can be very proud of their achievements and stand as an example for the rest of the world to follow. This can only help them to greater profitability and promote world prosperity and health.

How To Select a Superior Vehicle Transport Company

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

If you’ve never shipped a vehicle before, the whole process can be a bit overwhelming at first. There are, however, a few things that you can look out for that may help you choose the best vehicle shipping company for your needs.

One very necessary thing to consider is how quick they are to show you their insurance policy. Any company that does not cover their cargo or will not show you their policy does not deserve your trust or your business. They may be in legal trouble, financial trouble, or just plain mismanaged and you want nothing to do with this failing company looking for as many suckers as they can to seduce before they go under.

The company you choose must be honest and reliable and financially sound enough to offer you several policies from which to choose. There are two types of insurance in the industry, primary and excess. The primary will cover damages independently of your current personal insurance policy. Excess coverage is just that, it covers damages in excess of your currently held personal policy. The company should be eager to describe what types of accidents and damages their policy covers so you can make an intelligent choice of the coverage you need to purchase from them.

Once you have these issues settles, you can move on to the next stage of preparing and submitting your car. There are several types of trucks and services. You have probably seen more open carriers than container carriers around. Open carriers are preferred by many customers because they are less expensive. In many cases the distances the cargo has to travel are particularly large, and if weather is fair open trucks often move out more quickly.

Generally shipments by sea use container shipping. The drawbacks of container shipping are the obvious increase in price as well as the less obvious time factor, Auto shipping companies are not quick to ship partial containers so you may have to wait a considerable amount of time before your container is full and ready to depart.

The closed carrier truck transport will cost you more. Also, there can be delays in shipment as this type of carrier will not begin its journey until it is fully loaded. You can get earlier shipment but it will cost you excess fees. The closed carrier does offer protection against inclement weather, flying road debris and theft or vandalism. If your car has to travel a long distance or if it is a rare, expensive, or fragile vintage model, it is worth protecting your investment by choosing the closed container truck.

The reputable company will offer insurance for each and every vehicle it carries and any damages they sustain will be fully compensated while under their care. Over and above, they carry liability insurance of at least $800,000 to cover the cargo should several of the vehicles become damaged. Honest companies care about their reputations and will not sacrifice their name by mishandling or endangering their customers’ property. They will insure against this. So do not do business with any company that will not give you proof of insurance or fails to bring it up in initial conversations.

Pining Away

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

The Boy Scouts are famous for many great traditions but one of the most fun ones is the annual Pinewood Derby. Primarily a Boy Scott event, the derby is an event where boys take solid blocks of pine wood and carve them into cars and race them.

The Pinewood Derby was created in 1953 by Cubmaster Don Murphy from Pack 280c in Manhattan Beach. Murphy had a son who was too young participate in the annual Soap Box Derby races and he suggested they make and race little wooden cars instead. The first event was a success and soon the event began to spread. For a great deal check out used vehicles today.

Living up to its name, the scout is given a solid block of pine wood, 4 wheels and 4 nails for axles and told to make a car. The car must use all 9 pieces, weigh under a certain amount (usually 5 oz.) and fit on the regulation sized track. The rest is up to the scout.

The main purpose is for the scout to spend time with his father or grandfather, creating the car. The car can be whittled with a knife, saw a rotary tool or any other shaping tool. The wheels are attached by driving the nails, to use as axles, through the tire hub and into the wood.

There are no set rules for the design but there are some common things to keep in mind when making yours. One is design. A car built for speed is sleek and aerodynamic. Endless sanding and polishing go into the body to make sure that there is as little wind resistance as possible.

The cars weight is arguably the most important factor. The car should weigh the maximum amount of weight, which is usually 5 ounces. But that is just the beginning. Grooves and holes are carved out to add weight. Lead fishing weights are melted and poured into the groove to add weight. It is a heavily debated process, as some insist weight should go in the very front, some in the middle, some on top or on bottom. Each person has their own opinion.

Next are the wheels. They need to be on tight but not too tight as to prevent turning. On the opposite side they need to be loose enough to spin, but not wobbly. You have to polish the nail axles to make them slick and add lubrication to ensure the spin properly. The tires also need to have some polish as well, to make them slicker, but not too slick, because they need to grip the tracks. Many people sand the inner and outer edges of the tires down to make them more narrow and reduce friction, but just like the weights, everyone has their own method of doing it. Come to trade in a car for a great deal.

Colors schemes are whatever you want them to be. Some are futuristic, some simple, some mimic real race cars and some you have no idea what they are. This is all just for the basic race, not even getting into the best in show and most artistic designs.

Paris Invests in Electric Cars

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

If you have ever watched a James Bond movie, and hasn’t, then you will have probably noticed the narrow streets and tiny cars in European cities. If you are lucky enough to be in Paris over the next couple of months you might get a glimpse of the small car future. We like to call it the bubble car, but its real name is the BlueCar.

Here is what it is. The BlueCar is an electrically powered car that Paris is making available for rentals. When we say short term, we mean it, as in by the half hour. The project is called Autolib and in a testing phase for the next to months.

The project has an initial cost of around $321 million dollars with the city itself investing $47 million, much of the rest of the money comes from billionaire Vincent Bollore, whose company won the bidding for the project and makes the BlueCar.

The way it works is that people must purchase a membership to be eligible to use the cars. Once registered, they can rent a car at any station for around 4-8 euros per half hour. Dropping off and picking up cars at charging stations will be a simply process run by Bollore’s company.

The project is the brainchild of Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe. He came up with the idea after the success of his other brainchild, the Velib, a scheme that involved renting out bicycles that was so successful other cities copied the idea. We are still waiting for the plan that rents out skateboards.

While open to tourist, the plan is geared towards those who live in Paris and don’t own cars or rely on the the public transportation system.

They have an ambition plan. The idea is to redefine how people think about cars. Instead of buying them they want people to see them as something they use when needed but don’t need all the time. The first run will be 66 cars with 33 charging stations but will rapidly expand to 3,000 cars and over 1,000 stations.

The project has gained the attention of the auto industry. Nissan, Renault and Daimler have invested heavily in similar cars and want to see how they do. If the program does well, the other manufacturers may make a big push for their own electric cars. Other cities as well might be interested in the plan as well and London has tested out a very small scale version of the plan.

It’s ironic that tiny, 4 person (barely) car is made by Italian auto maker Pininfarina, the makers of Ferrari and Maserati. So maybe BlueCar isn’t a high powered sports car but Mayor Delanoe fully expects it to modernize transportation.

Guayabo National Monument

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

The park was established in 1978 to help preserve the lush flora and fauna in the area. It was created due to the building of the highway (Gupiles) because it makes the park more accessible.

Encompassed of virgin forest and at over five different life zones, the park is home to 6,000 species of plants. Hiking through the miles of trails of varying elevation will allow you be in contact with this exotic environment. Car rental Costa Rica.

Guayabo has a lot of mystery since there isn’t a lot of information about the people who lived in these region centuries ago. Archaeologists haven’t discovered yet the name of the city and its inhabitants. Dr. Carlos Aguilar Piedra, an archaeologist from the University of Costa Rica, started the excavations in 1968. Only 10% of the 218 hectares of this national monument have been excavated.

Barva Volcano, which is a dormant volcano, is the highest peak within the park at 9,534 ft. (2,906 m). Many other peaks within Braulio Carrillo’s borders are Cacho Negro, at 7,382 ft. (2250 m); Cerro Chompipe, at 7,411 ft. (2,259 m) and Cerro Turu, rising to 7,018 ft. (2,139 m). Visitors shouldn’t miss the sensational San Fernando Waterfall.

Religion probably was a prevalent part of this society because there are tombs throughout the site. Tapering wooden houses once sat on the remnants of rock-based foundations of different size and proportion. This could mean that there was a democratic culture.

Although their civilization has yet to be unveiled, the evidence shows that they gave a lot of important to religious and political issues.

Archaeology finds include carvings of crocodiles, insects and jaguars. Complex petroglyphs can also be found. They are covered with mysterious messages that archaeologists have not deciphered yet. Some of these petroglyphs represent birds, lizards and giant cats, while others don’t have a clear meaning. The most important petroglyph is at the entrance of the site. It seems to be protecting the place and keeping the danger out. Car rental Costa Rica.

When visiting the park take into consideration that most people are just passing through. The trails are never crowded, however the nearby the highway usually is. In contrast to most of the roads in Costa Rica, traffic on highway 32 flows with relatively little congestion due to the passing lanes provided on the uphill side. Weather is not a major consideration since it’s always wet here. Afternoon showers are always expected.

A car is the best way to explore Costa Rica. Whether you need an economic vehicle or 4×4 truck rental, at U-Save Costa Rica car rental, we are glad to offer the best options for hire with the friendliest service at a discount rate.

Be The Head Of Your Own Car Company

Monday, September 19th, 2011

Have you ever imagined designing a car from scratch and running an auto manufacturing company? Now you have the opportunity to turn your imagination into reality. A game has been developed by a company called Camshaft Software that makes it all possible. A company called Rocket Hub will actually be selling the virtual reality game. Camshaft Software was created by two auto enthusiasts who have the skills to program software and are accomplished 3D artists.

The game is called Automation. You have started a company in the 40′s and your objective is to build vehicles from the ground up. You will select or actually design the engine and chassis and also create the car’s body style. As head of a car manufacturer, of course, you have goals. You will need to grow the company and utilize and develop new technologies which can be incorporated in your products.

In addition, the game includes elements of running a car company which you control. They include Finances, Factory Management, Engine Design, Car Design, Dealerships, the world market, and buyer demographics.

You can even check out the parts as you build them and keep score of your progress. You don’t have to be a car buff in order to play this game; anyone can master it.

A few games will be released early to select individuals. A demo will also be released which will let players design the engine and exterior. This will allow people who have pre-ordered to design, build and share their car designs before the game is even sold to the public.

Fans who contribute to the game will receive a pre-order version and receive special status on the forums. Contributors are referred to as “Fuelers.” Those who contribute $20 or more will receive a preorder of the game with access to more content as well as a Silver Supporter Rank on the forums. $75 or more will get four pre-orders of the game with access to extra content as well as a Gold Supporter Rank on the forums. $250 or more will get four pre-orders of the game with access to extra content and a Platinum Support Ranking on the forums. $10,000 or more will get you your name displayed on the game.

So if you’ve always wanted to test your business knowledge, here is your chance to actually do it. Design your auto company from the ground up and see if you’ve got what it takes to build a successful company.

Many Men Intimidated By Women In Luxury Cars

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

In my opinion; yes. I do honestly think that many men are intimidated by successful and powerful women. Driving a luxury car doesn’t necessarily mean that you are successful because expensive cars can be easily leased. However, most people naturally assume that people who drive expensive cars are generally successful. used cars in orange county offers great deals on cars, trucks and SUV’s in HB. We are located right on Beach Blvd.

Now that I drive an expensive car it seems like most guys are afraid to look over, especially if my car is nicer than theirs. When I used to drive an affordable car guys weren’t intimidated at all and would try talking to me all the time.

Take a car like the Infiniti G37 for example. I figure most men would be quite intimidated by a woman driving it because the G37 is generally thought of as a very powerful and high performance car. The engine is six cylinder 3.7 Liter 330hp engine while the top of the line IPL model outputs an impressive 348 HP. Pricing for the G37 starts at around $32k.

I have heard some guys on car message boards state that it’s a “waste” when a woman is driving a car known for power like a Mercedes AMG. What a bunch of rubbish! I have seen plenty of women “floor it” and hit very high speeds. Just because we are women doesn’t mean that we can’t appreciate and fully enjoy the engineering of a finely crafted car. What kind of nonsense is this? Anyone can appreciate the “performance” aspect of a car and push it to the hilt; not just men. Bay area dealer san francisco jaguar dealership offers a large selection of cars such as the XJ and XF.

Now take a car like the 2011 Honda Accord. The Accord isn’t performance based but more in the style of a family sedan and considered very safe and reliable. Standard engine is a V4 with 190 hp. The Accord is well acclaimed for its legendary reliability and scored 9 out of 10 on reliability tests conducted by J.D Power and Associates. Pricing starts at around $21k. Most guys, in my opinion, would not be intimidated by a woman in an Accord because it’s considered affordable and practical. I suppose most guys assume women prefer to drive something that is “affordable” and “safe”.

This is all ridiculous; we should be able to drive whatever vehicle we want without being judged. Women are more financially successful than ever before and we should be able to drive whatever we want without judgment.

Big Area Travelling Approaches

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

The initial tricks of transportation you see quickly is definitely the bus service. Bus stops happen to be nearby many residential areas and buses travel toward a central transportation hub. Once you work near downtown, it can be super easy capture a bus that will take one to an establishment that may be inside of a few blocks of the office. If there is not a bus stop near your property, locate a “park and ride” lot. You can park your car or truck there for free and make bus. Using bus service enables you save fuel, the frustration of owning to drive an automobile in rush hour traffic and parking fees. A monthly bus pass often less expensive than monthly parking fees.

Many larger cities have a very subway system. This underground transportation system won’t use surface streets, so that it avoids traffic jams that will be considered a very swift way to commute within your business.

Cities including Chicago have gone above grade owning an elevated train as an alternative to underground having a subway. Other cities allow us light rail systems to help you with rapid transportation of commuters with the suburbs around the downtown area.

In Seattle, and various cities that may use a waterfront, ferries are the way to commute. The Bremerton to Seattle ferry is concerning several hours commute. Parking are sold from the ferry terminal in addition, on the Seattle end, the terminal is usually a flight of stairs from downtown.

Commuters savvy in big city transportation methods will in all probability combine 2 or even more these techniques to commuting. You might like to please take a bus from the residential area into the light rail station. Then transfer to the light rail on your quick trip downtown.

Only for more flexibility with all your commuting, try adding a bicycle. Bikes tend to be welcome in regards to the light rails and buses usually have a very bicycle accrue front. Ride your bike for any bus stop, make bus towards stop nearest your career, hop back round the bike and obtain in order to work.
