Ford was established by Henry Ford in 1903 and since then has become one of the biggest and most profitable businesses in the world. The company reinvented the automotive industry by changing the way that the assembly line process works. It shouldn’t be a great shock that the brand has made lots of appearances in some of the most popular movies.
Ford’s cars have appeared on many tv shows as well as multi-million dollar movies. The practical and efficient Fusion has appeared on the trendy and hip Fox show “The OC”, giving it a bit of that “cool factor”. One of the most popular and iconic nameplates ever is the Mustang. One simple glance at her and it’s easy to see why; she’s lovely and sports a significant amount of horsepower under the hood. She has reached a total of five hundred movie credits including; “I am Legend”, “Gone In Sixty Seconds” and “Diamonds Are Forever”. The Mustang made its cinema debut in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger”. Ford provided the production with a large variety of autos to use including the Thunderbird, which was used as the CIA agents’ cars and the Continental produced by Lincoln.
The 1968 film “Bullitt” stars Steve McQueen but the real shining star was a green1968 Mustang GT which stole the scene which stole the hearts of automotive fans worldwide. Two Mustang GT’s and two Dodge Chargers were used in the infamous scene. One of the auto’s most recent impressive appearances was in the huge blockbuster hit “I Am Legend”. In this flick Will Smith is one of the last people left on the planet and can be seen hunting for food in the gorgeous muscle ride. Other automobiles featured include the Expedition and Escape. The 2010 Mustang is priced at around $21k and is available as either a V6 or V8 engine.
The brand Ford is ingrained into American society and a brand that is accessible to most and easy to relate to. Ford vehicles are built in America, built tough and most of all practical and attainable for the average consumer. I’m sure we’ll see their cars on the big screen for a long time to come.
