Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Ford was established by Henry Ford in 1903 and since then has become one of the biggest and most profitable businesses in the world. The company reinvented the automotive industry by changing the way that the assembly line process works. It shouldn’t be a great shock that the brand has made lots of appearances in some of the most popular movies.

Ford’s cars have appeared on many tv shows as well as multi-million dollar movies. The practical and efficient Fusion has appeared on the trendy and hip Fox show “The OC”, giving it a bit of that “cool factor”. The Fusion is a sedan that’s a lot of fun to drive, offers great mileage and offers a comfortable and roomy interior. The best part is that it’s reasonably priced with an average price of around the twenty thousand dollar range. Leading actress Jennifer Garner aka agent Sidney Bristow on the hit show Alias has been seen going after the bad guys in none other than a Ford Escape. The Escape is a compact crossover SUV with a comfortable interior, impressive crash test results and an optional V6 engine which outs out a total of 240 horsepower. The base price is around $21k and may increase depending on the trim and options selected.

One of the most popular and iconic nameplates ever is the Mustang. One simple glance at her and it’s easy to see why; she’s lovely and sports a significant amount of horsepower under the hood. She has reached a total of five hundred movie credits including; “I am Legend”, “Gone In Sixty Seconds” and “Diamonds Are Forever”. The Mustang made its cinema debut in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger”. Ford provided the production with a large variety of autos to use including the Thunderbird, which was used as the CIA agents’ cars and the Continental produced by Lincoln.

The 1968 film “Bullitt” stars Steve McQueen but the real shining star was a green1968 Mustang GT which stole the scene which stole the hearts of automotive fans worldwide. Two Mustang GT’s and two Dodge Chargers were used in the infamous scene. One of the auto’s most recent impressive appearances was in the huge blockbuster hit “I Am Legend”. In this flick Will Smith is one of the last people left on the planet and can be seen hunting for food in the gorgeous muscle ride. Other automobiles featured include the Expedition and Escape. The 2010 Mustang is priced at around $21k and is available as either a V6 or V8 engine.

The brand Ford is ingrained into American society and a brand that is accessible to most and easy to relate to. Famous Cars From The Movies

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Cars can really set the tone and mood on the silver screen. Nothing says sophistication and class like an Aston Martin and few other cars can emphasize the “tough guy” or “bad boy” image like a good old fashioned American muscle car, whether it be a Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro. Here is a list of the most famous and memorable cars to ever hit the big screen.

Aston Martin DB5 “GoldFinger”- The British brand is well renowned for crafting gorgeous and powerful automobiles. The stunning DB5 model has gained many fans and admirers worldwide due to its appearance in numerous James Bond flicks including “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball”. The actual DB5 model that was driven by Sean Connery in the movie was recently purchased at a British auction at the price $4.6 million dollars. The engine is 4.0 Liters and has the ability to reach speeds of up to 145 miles per hour.

Ford Coupe-”American Graffiti”- The 1932 Deuce coupe is memorable for its final drag race scene in the cult classic movie “American Graffiti”. This bright yellow ride comes with a V8 3.6 Ltr engine and puts out 60 hp. Deuce’s role emphasizes the significance of the Ford brand in popular American culture.

Bumblebee-”Transformers “- Bumblebee is the yellow Chevy Camaro driven by the actor Shia LeBouf. Who can forget that scene where he picks up Megan Fox where she takes a look under Bumblebee’s hood? Bumblebee is bright and yellow with daring black stripes. Unfortunately Bumblebee was involved in a recent car accident which was not written in the script. She was hit on the side by a police SUV in Washington DC. If you want to have a Camaro that looks just like this car, now you can, thanks to Chevrolet’s Transformers Special Edition package for the Camaro. This will get you Autobot insignia fender bags and wheel caps and more Autobot insignias in the console in addition to the yellow and black exterior.

Ford Edge-”Quantum Of Solace” – If a car is good enough for the suave James Bond then it’s good enough for us. Audiences physically gasped when Mr Bond didn’t emerge out of a Bentley or Lotus but a Ford Edge. Not just any Ford Edge, but an environmentally friendly Ford Edge fueled by a hydrogen fuel cell. It’s the perfect car to suit Bond’s more sensitive and human character, which was revealed in the flick.

Delorean DMC 12-”Back To The Future”- This vehicle achieves the impossible and breaks the laws of quantum physics. In the movie the DMC is able to travel back in time when hitting exact speeds of 88 mph. In our book, that makes the Delorean one of the coolest cars ever.

Mustang GT-”Bullitt”-The iconic Mustang GT can be seen in an intense scene in the flick “Bullitt”, which was released in 1968. The car is super powerful for its time and as a matter of fact, it’s still powerful for today! Equipped with an impressive a V8 engine with 325 HP, this smooth and cool ride had a major role in an intense seven minute car chase scene.

These cars have all grown to be super famous, a good example is the DB5 which sold for over 4 million dollars. Take a closer look at the cars in the background the next time you go to the cinema, you might just be looking at a future star!

The Fiesta’s Fuel Economy Rivals That Of Hybrid Cars

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

The Fiesta has skyrocketed in popularity recently and with good reason; this car packs a ton of value in a compact car with a really low price. There is a sedan version available and a hatchback model. The Fiesta stands out as a remarkable small car with a gorgeous interior and it’s so much fun to drive. The sedan features a prominent three bar grille and dragon’s eye headlamps. The Fiesta’s popularity in the States says a lot about its value since Americans tend to prefer bigger cars in general. The Mazda competes with other small affordable cars such as the Mazda 3, Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit. It is available in 5 different trim models; S, SE, SEL and SES.

Let’s take a closer look at the engine that powers this car. It’s a V4 1.6 Ltr with 120 HP. A very unique feature that the Fiesta has is its manual mode which utilizes clutches in order to switch to the appropriate gears. Fuel economy is extremely impressive for the Fiesta, it receives approximately 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the freeway. This is almost as good as some hybrid vehicles. A finely tuned suspension allows the Fiesta to navigate curves with ease.

The upper level trims come with great features such as Ford’s SYNC and temperature controlled seats. Sync is compatible with Bluetooth enabled smart phones and allows you to make calls without using your hands and change your music by using your voice. There is also super cool ambient lighting available which illuminates the interior and instrument panel with a total of seven color choices to select from. Another really cool feature that the Fiesta offers is its capless fuel filler system. You can just insert the gas nozzle into the tank to fill her up without screwing any bothersome caps.

The extensive air bag system offers solid protection with front, side and knee bags. The Fiesta was built around a safety cage made out of tough boron steel. The driver side mirror contains an integrated blind spot viewer which helps to reduce blind spots. The electronic stability control system automatically adjusts pressure on the brakes as needed.

What the Fiesta brings to the table is excellent value, great gas mileage and features usually found in more upscale cars. The gas mileage is comparable to that of hybrid vehicles plus fancy amenities such as heated seats and the advanced Sync System are available on upper level models. It’s obvious that this isn’t your average small car. A lot of thought has been put into the Fiesta in order to make it one of the most competitive small autos in its class. The cost of the 2011 Fiesta is around thirteen thousand dollars and will vary depending on the options selected.
